A Mutare Polytechnic lecturer was recently dragged to court over allegations of caressing a male student in bed at the institution’s hostels.
Prosecuting Brian Goto said Teston Matata allegedly caressed the student (name withheld) as they shared the same bed after deliberately denying him separate accommodation on April 26.
Matata who is responsible for allocating students accommodation at the polytechnic is said to have refused to offer the student separate accommodation saying he has no extra blankets.
Whilst there were sleeping on the same bed, the student was surprised to see his lecturer caressing his cheeks, chest and private parts.
He also realized that Matata’s manhood was erect.
Sensing danger the student excused himself as if he wanted to use the toilet and he escaped.
He then alerted the college security personnel who sought alternative accommodation for the young man.
A police report was made to the police on April 28 leading to Matata’s arrest.
The lecturer was freed on $ 100 bail by Mutare Magistrate Tendai Mahwe pending trial to a later date.
