A former Fletcher Deputy Headmistress Ms Lorencia Euna Mutubuki (68) who served as a deputy headmistress for 32 years at that school died after she collapsed at Roman Catholic Church, Gweru Diocese on Friday last week.

She died two hours after she had been admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital when she had collapsed during an all night prayer session prayer meeting at Roman Catholic Church on Friday evening.

Her daughter Ms Fungai Mutubuki confirmed Ms Mutubuki’s death.

“I can confirm the death of my mother Ms Lorencia Euna Mutubuki who passed on, on Friday night at Gweru Provincial Hospital after she had collapsed in church during an all night church service,” she said.

Ms Fungai Mutubuki told reporters that, Ms Lorencia Euna Mutubuki left the house for an all night prayer session on Friday. During the church service, she started feeling weak and collapsed. She was later taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital where she died two hours later.

She said that her mother was fit and she did not have any health difficulties at that moment.

“My mother was not even sick but she just collapsed during the church service.

She had just come from receiving the Holy Communion when she collapsed.

She died two hours later after she was ferried to Gweru Provincial Hospital.

“It is such a great loss to the family for she had set high standards for our family. Ms Lorencia Euna Mutubuki is the one who built the Lora House a boarding house for the girl students at Fletcher high School which accommodates more than 80 girl students at the school.

“She was also in the process of building a Secondary School in Delsford too,” she said.

 Ms Lorencia Euna Mutubuki started as a teacher at Mutero Secondary School, Gutu, Mambo High School and later became the Deputy Head Master at Fletcher High School, Gweru.

Mourners are gathered at number 14 Laverton Estate, Claremont Road, Gweru.

 Her burial was held today (Thursday) at Nemat farm, Anderson in Gweru.
